En fornyelse af Christianshavns Torv er under opsejling i 2014.

Forslaget skal vedtages den 16. december 2013:  Projektforslaget består af flere dele

  • Nedlæggelse af eksisterende ovenlys til metroen (udføres af Metroselskabet).
  • Etablering af kunstbelysning i stationen (udføres af Metroselskabet, medfinansieres af Københavns Kommune med 850.000 kr. ekskl. moms, jf. bilag 6).
  • Etablering af en mindre træbrygge/bådebro i Christianshavns Kanal.
  • Etablering af siddemøbel på Børnehusbroen.
  • Flytning af den gamle telefonkiosk.
  • Nye/flere cykelstativer (25 eksisterende cykelparkeringspladser ved Christianshavns Kanal fjernes, mens der etableres plads til 55 nye pladser til cykler i stativ og 20 uden stativ på selve Christianshavns Torv).
  • Nye træer, nogle med runde bænke omkring, samt ekstra bænke langs Christianshavns Kanal.Etablering af bøsninger i belægningen, som kan anvendes til parasoller, flagstænger, juletræer osv.
  • Nedtagning af eksisterende belysningsstandere, samt etablering af ny ophængt pladsbelysning på de eksisterende wirer.
  • Projektforslaget indeholder etablering af en mindre træbrygge i Christianshavns Kanal. Bolværket ejes af By & Havn og er fredet. By & Havn har givet fuldmagt, og Fredningsnævnet har den 5. november 2013 fremsendt dispensation fra fredningen.

 Projektforslaget er udarbejdet i tæt dialog med Christianshavns lokaludvalg, og flere elementer fra Christianshavns Bydelsplan 2013 er medtaget i forslaget. Lokaludvalget er tilfreds med forslaget, jf. udtalelse fra Christianshavns Lokaludvalg, bilag 5.  Projektforslaget har været fremlagt til orientering på Christianshavns Lokaludvalgs faste borgermøde den 4/12. Der vil efter aftale med Lokaludvalget ikke blive afholdt yderligere borgermøder, jf. bilag 5. Projektet medfører ikke nedlæggelse af P-pladser. Kommentar.

Christianshavns Torv er omdrejningspunkt for de 4 kvadranter på Christianshavn. I nyere tid har både Torvegade og Torvet haft et righoldigt forretnings- og butiksliv, som har været benyttet af de lokale beboere og de 10.000 arbejdspladser som holder til i bydelen. Forretningslivet har gennem de sidste 10 måske 15 år været trængt, og det er langsomt forsvundet og er blevet erstattet af caféliv som satser på turisme. Handelslivet burde derfor styrkes gennem ny initiativer på Torvet, hvor et moderne marked (som oprindelig tænkt på Israels Plads) kunne bidrage. Men et folkeliv er ikke tænkt med i dette projekt, udtænkt af en landskabsarkitekt og en billedhugger, som henstår som en mennesketomt forslag i sten og granit. Det er da ganske rart, at telefonkiosken flyttes væk fra det ny WC, at der opstilles et par runde københavnerbænke, og der plantes nogle flere træer, men summa summarum, så sker der ikke sker en dyt. Der er i 2013 fortsat en pølsevogn på Torvet, et par fiske- ostebiler på Børnehusbroen, og et enkelt blomsterstade ved busstoppestedet, som i et miks med de grønlandske skulpturer, de mange busser, og en metrostation udgør en travl trafikterminal. En funktion som afspejler Christianshavn Torvs identitet mere end nogensinde før.

Det ny forslag ændrer ikke på det visuelle udtryk, og det fastholder den Fast Food og Take-Away kultur, som i dag har udviklet sig på og omkring Torvet. Når man tænker på, hvor let det med få og enkle midler, med et dusin åbne overdækkede stadepladser, som samtidig kunne give en indtægt, kunne lade gøre at genskabe et folkeliv og et levende byrum, så står man måbende tilbage. I stedet for at samle området i en helhed fra Fakta i Dronningensgade til Sofiegården, og ned langs Kanalen på begge sider i Overgaden, og genskabe byrummet, ja så søsætter man for 5 millioner kroner bænke og cykelstativer.
